Membrane Installation Case Study – Moorland Reach, Kingsteignton
At the head of Teign Estuary in the Devon countryside Moorland Reach Kingsteignton is a development of 152 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes which required Amber 2 level ground gas protection. The gas barrier installed was a reinforced multi-layered LDPE ground gas membrane with adjacent sheets fully welded using a hot wedge welder. The work was carried out by trained technicians qualified to NVQ level 2 and the completed installation subjected to a gas integrity test involving the use of a tracer gas sensitive to low level detection to check the correct formation of the joints, to confirm the sealing of surface entry points and to identify any leaks in the membrane itself. The completed installation was then certified as representing the required gas resistant barrier.
