Migrating Gas Protection
In Ground Air Wall Barriers
The Airwall is a method for preventing the lateral migration of soil gas within the ground by the use of a non physical barrier. The method utilises ambient air pressurised vertically within the ground to form a barrier between the gas source and adjacent polluted area. The air is introduced through a series of perforated pipes arranged vertically in boreholes within the ground and located at the perimeter of the gas source and the boreholes are arranged so that their zones of influence overlap to give a continuous barrier of positive pressurisation within the ground. The migrating gases encountering the barrier are then purged from the ground by its dynamic nature.
